Modeled after the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta and subscribing to the vision of the Furniture Bank Association of North America,
The Lowcountry Furniture Bank plans to serve as a clearinghouse for collecting, storing, and distributing usable furniture to those in need. Historically, nearly 80% of those served by a furniture bank are single women with children. Many of those assisted have left an abusive relationship and are doing well to get out with
little more than the clothes on their backs.
The Lowcountry Furniture Bank is
Incorporated in the State of South Carolina as a non-profit organization and is in good standing with the South Carolina Secretary of State. The Internal Revenue Service has determined that the
Lowcountry Furniture Bank is exempt from Federal income taxes and contributions are deductible under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.
